Hello, all.
I’ve been thinking about taking this plunge for quite a while now. I guess now is as good of a time as any.
One of my favorite things about being a sportswriter is getting the chance to chat with different athletes across a variety of sports. But my favorite sport, above all, is basketball. And my favorite league, above all, is the WNBA. I thoroughly enjoy talking to all of the players, getting to know more about who they are off the court just as much as who they are on it.
During interviews, I tend to have little side conversations with most players. These off-the-cuff chats always happen organically. But those extra tidbits don’t often make it into the published story because they are separate and/or off the record. And I can’t help but think that WNBA fans are missing out on getting to know these players on a deeper level. That’s why I think an unfiltered question and answer series is needed, and this platform seems to be the best way to do it.
So . . . welcome to Courtside.
Take a break from the game. Pull up a chair. Settle in. Have some water. And relax.
As often as I can, I’ll be bringing you honest, revealing and fun Q&As with some of the greatest players in WNBA history as well as rookies, veterans and All-Stars in the league today. We’ll talk about life off the court just as much as what happens on it. And you’ll get a chance to share in the conversation. I also plan on throwing in a few other fun things at the end of each Q&A, such as letting you—dear reader—suggest questions for upcoming Courtside convos.
Don’t miss the first conversation. It’s free! And it’s coming your way this Friday. I’ll be chatting with a WNBA rookie who looked anything but when she took the court on opening weekend and had plenty to say about the imbalance of rookie hype during and after the 2020 WNBA Draft.
Subscribe and stay tuned.
In the meantime, pass the ball around so everyone can get in on the action.
