Hello, Courtside readers!
First, let me clarify and say you read the title correctly. It’s not a typo. Courtside is waving goodbye.
Let me explain.
The last time I wrote an update, I said I was going to continue on with Courtside posts and had every intention of doing so. But alas, life had different plans. As I shared previously, Courtside was started during the pandemic and I wanted to keep it going even after the WNBA picked back with its normal schedule of games and events.
I never considered making Courtside a paid venture. I wanted the access and content to always remain free. Unfortunately, I’ve come to realize that — in addition to my work obligations covering the WNBA and women’s college basketball for The Athletic and Just Women’s Sports, as well as continued book promotion for Hail Mary: The Rise and Fall of the National Women’s Football League — I just don’t have the time and space dedicated to give Courtside the full attention I feel it deserves.
Overall, it was a fun side gig that gave me the opportunity to get to know more than a handful of WNBA players on a personal level, and to share all of the intimate, relaxed conversations we had with Courtside subscribers. And even though Courtside itself is saying goodbye, it may only be temporary. I may resurrect it under the umbrella of another media outlet, though those conversations are still ongoing.
In the meantime, thanks again (sincerely) for your time and attention. I truly gained something from every single Courtside Q&A and enjoyed each one to the fullest extent. I hope you did as well. Thank you for subscribing and, as always, for your support and interest in the WNBA.
I appreciate it more than you could possibly know.
:( I've loved the series but I understand :( :( :(
